Welcome to Green Elephant Books
| |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: |
Our company is run by seven 6th form students of Sharnbrook Upper School. |
We aimed to produce a book, for children aged five to eight, to promote healthy eating. |
We feel that this is presently an open market, and will compliment the growing interest of tackling eating |
habits in the UK. |
We aim to not only appeal to the children, but to parents, who can therefore encourage healthier eating |
as a norm for future generations. |
The book will follow a narrative, with characters to interest children and providing something that they |
can connect with, as we have drawn on other generic story books for our market research. |
The book will combine this storyline with hand-drawn illustrations, created by one of the company’s |
employees. |
Our book will also provide a sample of simple recipes and tips to follow a healthy, balanced diet. |
As a company, we are very keen to promote environmental sustainability we, therefore, intend to publish |
| |
the majority of our book on recycled paper. |

Asda Supermarkets have signed a contract to trial run the book of Ollie’s Adventures in its Northampton Stores following negotiations between Green Elephant and Asda Head Office in Leeds. If sales reach already agreed targets, then they have also signed for the book to be stocked in all stores nationwide. Green Elephant have now become recognised suppliers to Asda and their merchandising team will be giving every assistance to ensure the book is well publicised.
The deal to carry and supply the books by Asda, was set up by the Green Elephant Team on a purely commercial basis and the company have had to follow Asda proceedures in the same way as every other supplier to the large supermarket chain.
This deal now confirms that Green Elephant is absolutely on schedule to becoming a full Limited Company during September 2008 and brings into line the business plan and forecast as described in the Company’s Presentation and Report.

On Wednesday 7th May at the Rufus Centre, Flitwick, Bedfordshire, Green Elephant took part in the County Final of the Young Enterprise Competition. Against 5 other finalists, the competition was very tough indeed and all the presentations by the teams were extremely professional.
However, Green Elephant came through on top and were named Best Overall Young Enterprise Company for Bedfordshire 2008. On a memorable night indeed, the team demonstrated how good their book is and how well they have structured the company to handle major marketing and production problems with producing such an ambitious plan. They now have to prepare for the Regional Finals to be held at Queens College, Cambridge at the end of June. Winners of this will go forward to the National Finals.
